Paul’s inane ramblings

Why do I get nagged for not blogging when Bu’er hasn’t blogged in MONTHS?

It’s not fair I tell you…

And so, a blog :) shall I mention football? hmm…we gave away a 0-2 lead to end up drawing against Everton (and Defoe missed an extra time penalty that would have given us the win) so maybe not eh?

Work? shall I blog about work? much as I love my job – I don’t think so…

So, what I’ll ramble on with is my phone – the Nokia N97 :)

It’s a lovely phone, and now I’ve managed to de-brand it (getting rid of the Vodafone crappy splash screen and useless link on the screen that you always tend to hit), and update the firmware – it’s fecking brilliant!

The touch screen is very good (not quite as good as the iPhone’s, but the best of the others), it’s fast opening apps, web browsing is faster than the iPhone (Marina has one and, being the geek I am, I opened my blog on both phones and mine was about 6 seconds quicker than hers :P ).

I like the way the iPhone lists SMSs in a conversation format so you can follow the thread, rather than in a list – so I found an app for my phone to do that :)

Also, my phone, with it’s 5 megapixel camera is FAR superior to the 2 megapixel offering on the Apple phone :)

Um…that’s about all for now – have a couple of short stories:

Apparently I’m off to the theatre on Saturday – Marina has tickets for ‘Misanthrope‘. I’ve not been to the theatre before so it should be an experience (and Keira Knightley is in it so I can perv her). I suppose it makes a change from hanging about in pubs…

I hate housework…

I really should look into getting a cleaner in once a week or summat.

You (well, I) have to be in the mood to do anything cleaning-like, and that doesn’t happen too often…as I type this, I can see I unloaded half the dishwasher then gave up, did go shopping though, but got so bored in Tesco I ditched the trolley and left…

And so, Chelsea v Spurs later at 4 – and if I watch it in the pub, I’ll just end up drunk, and tomorrow is gonna be pretty hectic I think, so I’ll stay home and stream the game over t’internet, find something to eat and get an early night…

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before – but I hate Mondays :|

(Not) A lazy Saturday…

Have I been busy today or what?

Housework, housework, housework, beer, watch some TV, housework – that’s me today :)

The house actually looks (quite) tidy for once…still got to sweep and mop the kitchen floor AND clear up my room, but on the whole I’m happy with my efforts today.

Got beer in the fridge ready for the Spurs v Man. Utd. game later – job’s a good ‘un!

Can’t stop eating today though – this is usually a sign that my sister is pregnant, but I think I’m just being a glutton to be honest.

Oh, and I broke 65000 hits yeasterday :)

Woohoo! COYS!

An impressive away win at West Ham last night means Spurs are now at the dizzying height of 15th in the league and we’ve got Man Utd. at home on Saturday – we really could do with another 3 points there…

We did it again!

Kicked the German’s arses in their own backyard that is…not quite the 1-5 as before, but still a good result – as I mentioned, there’s no such thing as a friendly game against Germany :) My dad would have loved to see the game last night – as a child growing up in France during the war, his experiences of Germans was that of bullies, I guess some of that’s rubbed off on me although I try to treat people as individuals and try not to stereotype them…

But hey – WE BEAT THEM! :D

Yesterday I mentioned that Tuesday was a record day for hits on this blog – well, that record was beaten again yesterday – 135 hits. I broke through 61,000 hits at about 2.15pm (my post shows the time of 3.08pm, but that’s because I’d forgotten to change the time in my settings (oart of me wants it to be summertime ALL the time).

Checking the comments I get (unless you’re a regular commenter, I have to approve comments), one this morning from Sara (a new visitor – hello :) ) ended with “May God bless you and keep you Baby P. Rest In Peace angel.” That says it all.

I read yesterday that Haringey head teachers had signed a petition saying that the head of Social Services should keep her job. Bullshit. She shouldn’t even wait to be sacked – she should have resigned when all this happened (August 2007). For those of you who haven’t seen it, the timeline of events is here. I dare anyone to read that and not be as angry as I am. Seriously, I’ve had some dealings with Social Services regarding my son, and the way I feel right now, they’d better not write, or, God forbid, call at my house – I just couldn’t be responsible for my actions.

I’m still not certain what I’ll do for Christmas this year – part of me just wants to get away somewhere sunny, while another part of me just wants to do my normal thing (get drunk and ignore the whole thing). I hate this time of year – my family know this, and never expect to see me in December (awaits comments on Scrooge etc.).

Did I mention we beat Germany last night? :)

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention it – as I wasn’t going to be driving today, I got ever so slightly drunk last night. I’ve got the hangover from hell today…sympathy please.
