Cold weather is no fun…

…Especially when you DON’T get ’snow days’ off work, AND there’s no heater in the car.

Poor me (send sympathy to my email address, it’ll make a change from viagra alternatives and Nigerian 419 scams…).

I’m just not used to shaving anymore. It’s because I had the bet with Andy before xmas that I couldn’t go until the end of the year without shaving. 3 weeks later, I was itchy, but happily covered in facial fuzz (very warm too). I shaved it all off, then grew another beard, then shaved that off…now I have another beard.

I honestly forget to shave – I actually meant to last night, but was side tracked by a computer I’ve got to sort out. It’s a HUGE Alienware gaming machine that apparently bluescreens a lot.

I say apparently, because I have no cable to hook it to my monitor at the moment – have to pick one up later. All I’ve done so far is open it up, marvel at the hardware, and clean out all the dust.

Well, time for a coffee and back to work…

I only just caught up with the B3ta beard grow-off competition:

I came third apparently! :)

Woo…check it all out here.

Best comment about it:

Third place: Snee – for having the sort of reassuring beard that I’d want with me on any kind of camping/survival weekend as it would provide a nice rugged presence. Good coverage.

I never expected to get a place – I have no acceptance speech ready or anything…

Ugly looking bunch eh?

Wait! where’s my medal anyway?

It should be legal…

To kill anyone wearing those stupid santa hats.

Seriously, we could turn it into a game – 5 points for a housebrick between the eyes, 10 for catching them with a vehicle etc., etc.

Ok, maybe that’s a little excessive (but I don’t think so), but sheep are dumb animals…and the morons who wear the silly things are just as, if not, dumber.

Bleah.

Spurs held Man Utd. to a draw on Saturday and moved up to 14th in the league until Newcastle went above us on goal difference. Never mind, we’ve taken points off the ‘top 4′ now – COYS!

EDIT: The beard’s looking pretty impressive now – got to be 3, nearly 4 weeks worth now…and I’m not allowed to shave or trim until the New Year. It’s itchy as fuck, but taking a pint off Andy will make it all worth it.

Amusingly, someone told me last night that I looked about 30 with the beard :)

I’ll get a picture later…

EDIT: Here’s a pic – I took it myself so it’s not very good…

Double glazing? why of course I’m interested…

For some obscure reason, our main office is based in a steel security box (plays havoc with cellphone reception). Now, as we had a t’interweb dialup connection in the days before broadband, we also have a second phone line.

One of my biggest pleasures during a dull day at work is to pick up this phone when it rings – 9 times out of 10 it’s a double glazing salesman or such like :)

“Why yes, I’d LOVE you to come and measure me up (fnar, fnar) for double glazing/conservatory…”

My boss calls it evil – I call it fun.

Think I’ll grow a beard…

Corina and the fax machine

Our fax machine is dead. Not completely dead, so long as you only want to send a single page it’s fine – it just refuses to feed multiple pages through. This is the reason when on the odd occasion I’ve been asked to fax 2 or 3 (God help if there’s any more than that) pages to a customer, the level of swearing increases proportionately…

“Oh, you f*cking piece of sh*t…feed through you b*st*rd!” etc., etc.

Anyway, I digress (no change there).

So today Corina needed to fax through, wait for it, about 50 pages! :)

So there I was, huge grin on my face as the first page went through ok, and the second…third page created a jam (tears started rolling down my cheeks as I shook with barely contained mirth), resulting in the whole machine needing to be turned off and on again (the ultimate IT cure-all).

As I type this, Corina is, as I first suggested, putting the whole lot in the post…
