A great weekend…

Kathy came down Friday (her birthday), so it saved me doing the 1.5 hour drive each way…

And so – took her for a meal Friday night – was very nice . I even took her shopping in Cambridge on Saturday, AND Inever complained once (heh – earnt myself mucho brownie points there let me tell you…)

Another meal and a few drinks Saturday night, and onto Sunday…

Decided to goto the Royal Oak in Hail Weston for dinner – as Ewa (my lodger) was around, I asked if she wanted to come too. So off we all went.

Lovely meal (as always), couple of beers sat out in the garden – excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Within an hour of getting back home, I got a text from Harriett – she used to live in Hail Weston, and her mum still does. Anyhoo, her mum had popped round to Harriett’s to tell her that I’d been seen in the pub with TWO women…and neither of them were Harriett! Shock! Horror! other exclamationed (is that a real word?) remarks!

And now it’s Monday…but at least I’m in work…

Off to Sweden tomorrow with a night stopover there too – the U21 Championship final (England v Germany) is tonight though – bollocks.

So, the weird one has kicked the bucket, shuffled off this mortal coil etc., etc.

So I guess those tickets to see him at the O2 aren’t gonna be used now eh?

OK, he was very talented, but so fucking weird. I shan’t lose any sleep – but can guarantee we get to see loads of Jackson shit on the TV for the next month.

Something slightly surreal happened to me today…

I had to leave the office and run into town, so I decided to pop by my house to drop off some bits first.

So I unlocked the front door and there on the stairs was a cat. “Funny,” thought I, “I could have sworn I put Gif out before I left this morning – WTF? that’s not my cat!”

Meanwhile, the quite cute, fluffeh little kitten rubbed against my legs, had a stroke (I mean I stroked it, not that it suddenly keeled over and started fitting) and wandered out the door.

A few minutes exploration and I found a clue – a note from Harriett. She’d been passing and thought she’d grab some of her stuff that’s still there – seeing what she thought was my cat, she’d let him in and left him there, going on her merry way.

You just can’t make this stuff up…

So. Yesterday I took the day off to finish collecting free paving slabs (3 trips, multiple scrapes on my arms, about 5 gallons of sweat and they’re in my garden, mocking me), and rip up the old patio ready to redo it all.

And then I find out whoever laid the previous one used FUCKING GREAT LUMPS OF CEMENT on every fucking slab to keep them in place. So, at this point I’ve recovered some 30 slabs, got about 20 new ones, still have to dig out about 1/2 tonne of shitty old cement and get rid of that before I can even start thinking about laying the slabs (and I have to stop the cat shitting in the sand all this time).

And so, all I can do is set myself targets each day – I’m hoping to get the most of the crap dug out this evening, and may have some unwilling help to dig the rest out in lieu of money owed to me

And so, here I sit at work, a sketch on the computer trying to figure out how the slabs will fit – it’s a huge (and heavy) jigsaw puzzle…

The sun is out…blue sky…

And I’m sat in the office.

Sigh…but it’s not all bad I mean, at least I’m working – this alone is good for a Monday.

Had a great weekend (again). And it didn’t involve huge amounts of beer – more the company I guess

It seems I’m over my back problem (well, for now) – good job really ‘cos I have some slabs coming tomorrow which I need to lay in the garden (must remember to book tomorrow off). Funny that – I finally got around to mowing the lawns and generally tidying up, now I’ve got the gardening bug…

Kathy’s down this weekend coming – it’s her birthday of course, being the gentleman I am, I can’t tell you her age…just that I’m a toyboy lol
